An effective land information system is essential for land management to ensure that optimum use is made of the limited land available, to provide security of ownership, and to enable land to be readily used as security for raising capital for investment. The present system in Dominica has a number of weakenesses which hinder rural development and economic diversification. | Project Tasks | - Design a unified Land Information System (LIS) for the Govenment of Dominica in concert with user-requirements, ensuring that processes between key Government institutions and agencies involved in the land administration are linked
- Design a Geospatial Database for Settled Government Estates
- Establish and make operational the LIS, to include the use of the Geospatial Database for Settled Government Estates
- Collaborate with consultant(s) undertaking the legislative reviews to identify deficiencies in the current legislative provisions which give rise to the weaknesses in the land management system, and to any other obstacles to the effective functioning of the land market that the consultant(s) identifies.
